Another trip up cadillac, by bike for Natalie and I, by foot for the others. Another foray onto the carriage roads. A last hike up Dorr mountain (rungs and ladders). Last sitting out by the water - perfect even without breaching whales or wandering moose. Last dinner, effectively emptying the frdge. Great (at least a 6!) trip with no incidents.. 21 miles, 162 total.   

Bus left at 3.15am for the sunrise hike up cadillac, supposedly the first place to see the sun rise in the usa. Only Natalie and I made the bus, others watched from the house which is equally nice with the 270 degree east facing water view. Some rode this morning the carriage roads in the south of the park (and got popovers), I rode on busier roads out of the park to echo lake, the only pond swimming on the island. Lazy afternoon reading, napping around the house. So good. 13 miles, and going back to carriage roads tomorrow for the last day.

Beautiful day to ride! 11 of us set out on the around the mountain trail after big egg breakfast - only 4 dozen more in the fridge. Definitely my favorite ride in the park. Back for lunch, a quick nap then hiking up gorham peak and scrambling through the cadillac cliffs. Another big dinner, canapes the big nightly TBD then a bonfire. 26 miles. 

Early morning ride up cadillac for Steven, Michael and me while others did a park loop road ride. After more eating and a barre class on the dock, 2nd ride of the day along the carriage roads, around jordan and eagle ponds, with popover stopover for the new arrivals. Then afternoon hikes at beehive, jordan pond, bar island and the bubbles before dinner, games and stargazing. Sunny, cool and windy. 17 miles UP + 20 miles around (and up). 

Early start to beat the predicted rain, circling the eastern half of the island. Good riding on paved roads, little hillier than yesterday with long screaming downhills. Met up at thunder hole - a definite 6 ‐ on the loop road. Group got split up near seal harbor, with half going on to northeast harbor for monkey bread, scones and coffee while others returned to hike the bubbles. All met up for popovers at the jordan pond house - yum. Last night for first group, reinforcements on the way. 39 miles, 3000' climbing, no rain until the popovers.  

To compensate for staying in our share of motel 6s and red roof pluses, this year we rented the Tranquility estate in Acadia. 10 acres surrounded by water, with an amazing house to share with 22 great friends. First ride with 8 of us along the carriage roads, up and down gradual climbs on the "around the mountain" trail. Beautiful riding by ponds with mountain and ocean views. Back for a late lunch, a swim for some, nap and kayaking for others and then various hikes (beehive, jordan pond), great big dinner and star gazing on the dock. Good first day. 26 miles, one mechanical (steven derailleur cable).
